    Side Panel Description Gigabit Combo Ports The DGS-3700 Series are layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switches and members of the D-Link Switch family. The following manual describes the installation, maintenance and configurations concerning the DGS-3700-12 and DGS-3700-12G switches. Please take note that if this device was purchased outside of Europe, certain cosmetic differences between the actual switch and images in this document will be apparent to the reader, such as the faceplate and the manual cover.

    DGS-3700 Series Layer 2 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch Hardware Installation Guide Switch Description The DGS-3700 Series is equipped with unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable ports providing dedicated 10 or 100 Mbps bandwidth. The DGS-3700-12 Switch has 12 UTP ports and Auto MDI-X/MDI-II convertible ports that can be used for uplinking to another switch.

    DGS-3700 Series Layer 2 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch Hardware Installation Guide NOTE: The SFP combo ports on the Switch cannot be used simultaneously with the corresponding 1000BASE-T ports. If both ports are in use at the same time, the SFP ports will take priority over the combo ports and render the 1000BASE-T ports inoperable.

Rear panel view of the DGS-3700 Series Side Panel Description The left hand panel of the Switch contains large heat vents. The heat vents are used to dissipate heat. Do not block these openings, and leave at least 6 inches of space at the rear and sides of the Switch for proper ventilation.

Installing the SFP Module The AC power connector is a standard three-pronged connector that supports the power cord. Plug-in the female connector of the provided power cord into this socket, and the male side of the cord into a power outlet.

    DGS-3700 Series Layer 2 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch Hardware Installation Guide Ventilation Requirements The figure below shows the ventilation requirements of the DGS-3700 Series. The sufficient spacing must be reserved at the ventilation openings to ensure the normal working of ventilation. After various cables have been connected, they should be arranged into bundles or placed on the cabling rack to avoid blocking the air inlets.

Power and fan modules have the handles for users to replace the modules easily. If installing or removing the power module, make sure to unplug the Switch before installing or removing the module.

The events can be as serious as a reboot (someone accidentally turned OFF the Switch), or less serious like a port status change.

The Switch IP address can be automatically set using BOOTP or DHCP protocols, in which case the actual address assigned to the Switch must be known.
