Main circuit terminals Cable gauge of main circuit terminals and earth (ground) terminals Use an appropriate cable gauge to suppress the voltage drop to 2% or less. If the wiring distance is long between the inverter and motor, the voltage drop in the main circuit will cause the motor torque to decrease especially at a low speed. The following table indicates a selection example for the wiring length of 20 m.

Control circuit terminal Strip off the sheath for the below length. If the length of the sheath peeled is too long, a short circuit may occur with neighboring wires. If the length is too short, wires might come off. Wire the stripped cable after twisting it to prevent it from becoming loose. In addition, do not solder it. Cable sheath stripping length Crimp the terminals by inserting the wires into a blade terminal.

Safety stop function Connection diagram To prevent automatic restart after a fault occurrence, connect the reset button of a safety relay module or a safety programmable controller across terminals So (SO) and SOC. The reset button acts as the feedback input for the safety relay module or the safety programmable controller. Inverter R/L1 S/L2 T/L3 So (SO)
FAILSAFE SYSTEM WHICH USES THE INVERTER When a fault is detected by the protective function, the protective function is activated and outputs a Fault (ALM) signal. However, a fault signal may not be output at an inverter's fault occurrence when the detection circuit or output circuit fails, etc. Although Mitsubishi assures the best quality products, provide an interlock which uses inverter status output signals to prevent accidents such as damage to the machine when the inverter fails for some reason.

• Electrical corrosion of the bearing When a motor is driven by the inverter, axial voltage is generated on the motor shaft, which may cause electrical corrosion of the bearing in rare cases depending on the wiring, load, operating conditions of the motor or specific inverter settings (high carrier frequency and EMC filter ON). Contact your sales representative to take appropriate countermeasures for the motor.
