    The LCD panel of your system provides system information, status, and error messages to indicate if the system is functioning correctly or if the system needs attention. For more information about error messages, see the Dell Event and Error Messages Reference Guide at Dell.com/openmanagemanuals >OpenManage software.

    The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) is designed to make system administrators more productive and improve the overall availability of Dell systems. iDRAC alerts administrators to system issues, helps them perform remote system management, and reduces the need for physical access to the system.
  • Page 25: Log In To Idrac

    The OS reinstallation begins and proceeds without any user intervention, if no errors are encountered. This process takes around 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Errors encountered are also flagged on the front panel LCD of your device.     Options to manage the pre-operating system applications Your system has the following options to manage the pre-operating system applications: • System Setup • Dell Lifecycle Controller • Boot Manager • Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) NOTE: The NX430 system does not support UEFI mode.

    The iDRAC settings utility is used to set up and configure the iDRAC parameters. You can enable or disable various iDRAC parameters using the iDRAC settings utility. For more information about this utility, see Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller User’s Guide at Dell.com/idracmanuals.
  • Page 28 Option Description System Security Specifies options to configure the system security settings, such as system password, setup password, and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security. This option also manages the power button on the system. Miscellaneous Specifies options to change the system date and time. Settings Boot Settings You can use the Boot Settings screen to set the boot mode to either BIOS.

NOTE: The NX Series systems support only BIOS mode. Do not change the boot mode to UEFI because the system will not load the appliance OS when in UEFI mode.

  • Page 35 You can use the SATA Settings screen to view the SATA settings of SATA devices and enable RAID on your system. NOTE: Dell Storage NX system does not support HDDs connected to SATA ports and does not enable SATA RAID Mode. It supports only PERC RAID Controller.

If the Embedded Video Controller is the only display capability in the system (that is, no Controller add-in graphics card is installed), then the Embedded Video Controller is automatically used as the primary display even if the Embedded Video Controller setting is set to Disabled.
  • Page 39 Option Description NOTE: Every time the system boots, the BIOS syncs the serial MUX setting saved in iDRAC. The serial MUX setting can independently be changed in iDRAC. Loading the BIOS default settings from within the BIOS setup utility may not always revert this setting to the default setting of Serial Device 1. Failsafe Baud Rate Specifies the failsafe baud rate for console redirection.

The optimization of the uncore frequency to either save power or optimize performance is influenced by the setting of the Energy Efficiency Policy option.
