Powering Up the DBM When you apply power to the DSU, the DSU performs a power-up routine and: Determines what hardware options are installed, including a DBM. Automatically runs a Device Test (Devic) on the DSU and each installed hardware option.

Status Branch The Status (Stat) branch includes reports on the: Health and status of the DSU, DBM, TDM, and MCMP DTE interface Local Bckup Stat DTE CircQ Port Select Devic Expan Subn Backup Branch The Backup (Bckup) branch controls operation of the dial backup feature for DBMs. The Bckup selection is used to control DBM dialing from the front panel.

Control Branch The Control (Ctrl) branch allows you to: Enable or disable the DSU’s and/or DBM’s transmitter. DBM alarms can be halted by disabling the DBM. Select LEDs to be displayed. Display/change the status of general purpose external DTE leads. Initiate a full device reset and power-up routine using Reset.

Software and Firmware Version Control Verify that the control and tributary DSUs have the same firmware version or that the control has the highest firmware version. If the control DSU software version is less than 7.24 but greater than 1.10, changes are required to the DSU tributary firmware version in the General configuration options.
