Verify the Switch Passes Self Test Before mounting the switch in its network location, you should first check that it is working properly by plugging it into a power source and verifying that it passes its self test. Connect the adapter’s power cord to the power connector on the back of the switch, and then plug the AC power adapter into a nearby properly grounded electrical outlet.

    Configuring the Switch Initial Configuration The ProCurve Switch 1700-8 can be managed through a Web-browser interface that you can access from any PC or workstation in the connected network. For initial configuration, you may want to assign an IP address to the switch that is compatible with your existing network.
