Placing Originals

Note:
❏ Do not feed valuable photos, artwork, or important documents, which you do not want to damage or deface, into the
scanner directly. Misfeeding may wrinkle or damage the original. When scanning such originals, make sure you use a
Carrier Sheet (sold separately).
❏ Ripped, wrinkled, or curled originals can also be scanned if you use a Carrier Sheet (sold separately).

Combinations of Originals and Scanner Position
This product uses two different positions for scanning, depending on the original being scanned.
This section explains the combinations of scanner positions and originals. For details on how to change the
position, see the Related Information pages or the procedures for placing various types of originals.
Explanations
When scanning multiple sheets of standard-size
originals, or when scanning thin paper or receipts,
place the scanner in the vertical path position.
Scanned originals are ejected to the output tray at
the top of the scanner.

Straight path position
When scanning thick or long originals, passports,
cards, and so on, place the scanner in the straight
path position.
Scanned originals are ejected to the output slot at
the front of the scanner.
