8. Position the new memory module over the memory slot. Make sure that the notch
module aligns correctly with the slot key
down into the slot until the retaining clips close.

Installing or replacing a PCI card

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page v.
Your computer has one standard PCI card slot, two PCI Express x1 card slots, and one PCI Express x16
graphics card slot.
To install or replace a PCI card, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 71.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing and reinstalling the front bezel" on page 72.
4. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward. See "Accessing the system board components and drives"
on page 74.
5. Depending on whether you are installing or replacing a PCI card, do one of the following:
• If you are replacing an old PCI card, remove the screw that secures the old PCI card and release the
old PCI card from the PCI card slot.
