    v Limit your movement. Movement can cause static electricity to build up around you. v Always handle parts and other computer components carefully. Handle adapters, memory modules, system boards, and microprocessors by the edges.     Identifying parts on the system board The system board (sometimes called the planar or motherboard) is the main circuit board in your computer. It provides basic computer functions and supports a variety of devices. Figura 4 shows the locations of parts on the system board for some computer models.

    5. Press the cover-release button on the top of the computer cover, slide the cover to the rear, and remove it. If your computer has screws to secure the computer cover, remove the screws, and then remove the cover. Figura 5. Slide the drive bay assembly forward until the drive bay assembly is aligned with the two slots on the sides of the chassis and remove the drive cables from the system board.

Make sure that the notch 1 on the memory module aligns correctly with the connector key 2 on the system board. Push the memory module straight down into the connector until the retaining clips close.

    Internal drives are devices that your computer uses to read and store data. You can add drives to your computer to increase storage capacity and to enable your computer to read other types of media. Some of the different drives that are available for your computer are: v Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk drives v Parallel ATA hard disk drives...
